Quality and Testing

Unsurpassed Quality

The principles of quality control and ISO 9001:2008 standards result in continually updated manufacturing practices and efficiencies. Every assembly is quality checked during multiple stages of production and maintained to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. We are also a UL Certified wire harness manufacturer. Our vigilance assures our customers that a quality product is delivered every time.

Testing Capabilities

Automation Electronics possesses a wide range of test equipment. Assemblies can be tested for continuity, opens, shorts, connection resistance, and insulation resistance. We also perform Hi-pot, continuity of protective bonding circuit tests, and component testing such as resistors, diodes, and capacitors. Most testing is performed using programmable test equipment to assure consistency and accuracy. Our manufacturing tooling undergoes scheduled inspections that ensure terminations meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specifications.

UL’s wiring harnesses traceability program creates value for the end-product manufacturer by providing traceability for the wire and other components used to construct a wiring harness that is assembled at an off-site location.

UL verifies that the wiring harness meets the specifications put forth by the buyer of the harness.

REACH stands for “Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances,” and is a European Union directive to remove harmful substances from manufactured products. Currently, there are 16 substances found on the Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) list.

AS9100 includes ASQ 9001:2000 quality system requirements and specifies additional
requirements for the quality system of the aerospace industry.

The Wire Harness Manufacturers Association and IPC teamed to develop the first industry consensus standard for Requirements and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies to provide long needed industry requirements.

The standard has earned an international reputation as the source for end-product acceptance. Now updated to lead free for terminal soldering criteria.

The ISO 9000 Family of Standards

The ISO 9000 family of standards is related to quality management systems and designed to help organizations ensure that they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to the product. The standards are published by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, and available through National standards bodies. ISO 9000 deals with the fundamentals of quality management systems, including the eight management principles on which the family of standards is based. ISO 9001 deals with the requirements that organizations wishing to meet the standard have to fulfill.

RoHS Compliant

RoHS refers to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The European Union instituted RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, which banned six substances (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexacalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenysis, and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers) from being used in the manufacturing process. The goal of this directive is to protect the environment and reduce exposure related health risks.
